Seattle startup Picnic is partnering together with Domino’s to test pizza assembly machines


Picnic, an automation company based out of Seattle has partnered together with Domino’s to test their pizza-making machine in a functional Domino’s shop situated in Berlin, Germany.

Both companies are in collaboration from 2021 on to research and conduct product tests in preparation for the release. The collaboration comes in the wake of an shortage of labor for food service in Domino’s rapidly expanding into other market segments.

Domino’s promises to more than double the number of outlets it has in the next 10 years and add around 100,000 people to its worldwide workforce. Domino’s has 3,400 outlets in 10 countries.

Since the beginning of the partnership, Domino’s executives of Europe, Asia and Australia have visited the Picnic Headquarters in Seattle to study the possibility of incorporating the use of food technology in their retail stores. A group of experts decided that Berlin was the ideal location to begin the pilot project.

Picnic has launched their Picnic Pizza Station in Domino’s Tiergarten store in Berlin The company will then monitor its performance for the rest of the trial.

In 2016, the company was founded. Picnic has raised over 20 million dollars to market food robots for assembly to restaurants and hospitality firms. Picnic has also has announced the news that recently it has partnered in Seattle with Moto to streamline the manufacturing of their pizzas.
