Gameskraft receives a show-cause notice from the GST authorities for an amount of INR 21,000 crore


The largest ever show cause notice was issued by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence to Gameskraft Technology, an internet gaming startup.

INR 21,000 Cr tax notice claims indirect tax evasion for a bet amount INR 77,000 Cr that was placed between 2017 and June 2022.

The tax authorities have asked the company to supply back-dated invoices. The government has placed a 28% GST rate on rummy, but the company says that rummy can be played as a skill game and therefore only 18% GST is required.
